These are great for learners who have learning difficulties. Some children find the phonics system to be a difficult way to learn to read and spell and it doesn’t work for all children. Children with special educational needs can sometimes respond better to letter and word shapes and images. This activity provides a great SEN support to the story Handa’s Surprise, looking at key words from the story and matching them with pictures, to give a deeper understanding of how the words look and what the objects actually look like.
