This is a great activity to assess how well children can recognise and remember alternative sounds in phase 5 for the ay sound. Using ‘ay’, ‘a_e’ and ‘ai’ spelling patterns. An adult to read out the words in sentences, to ensure children understand the work in context, children then decide which column to write the word in, which alien does the word belong to?
